What to Expect

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What should I dress our family in for the family session?

Take into account the location, skin tones, hair colour and the weather. Be comfortable and wear something that flatters your figure. Try to coordinate but not necessarily match everyone. Avoid crazy patterns, large logos, and flouro colours which distract the eye. Feel free to bring a change for an alternate look.

What if the weather turns nasty for our outdoor shoot?

I will be in contact with you the evening before to discuss options to either re-locate or re-schedule at a time that suits. Alternative options include the studio in Southport. I WILL NOT risk pregnant Mums-to-be on the beach in high winds or storms.

When is the best time to book a newborn session?

Short answer – when you are pregnant. The best time to photograph bub is in the first 10 days when they are very sleepy and less prone to waking when touched. While this is not always possible if you and bub are in hospital longer, but please book ahead to ensure availability. Don’t worry we will still get beautiful photos even if bub is outside this age. Bub might just be a little harder to settle.

How long does a newborn session go for? Should I bring food/ snacks?

A newborn session goes for 3-4 hours. We allow time for bub to feed, pee and poop and settle, which can be at their own pace and we work around them.  Absolutely, keep your energy levels up and bring your choice of snacks or drinks.

Does the newborn session include family and siblings?

Absolutely! We will attempt to get these photos first and then Dad is free to take the children to the park to burn off some energy, just around the corner, leaving us some quiet to capture the rest of the photos of the baby.

What should I wear for the maternity session?

Bring something tight to show off the bump as well as something soft, feminine and flowing. Feel comfortable! I will bring some amazing ]ly beautiful maternity gowns as well.

Can I include special momentos, personal props and family heirlooms?

Absolutely, bring them along and we’ll see how we can incorporate them. I love clients bringing personal items to include.

Is the photographer fully immunised?

Absolutely, I have all my shots up to date – I will not risk bub getting sick. If I am sick I will contact you to postpone. Their safety is my number one priority.

What do I need to bring for bub for the newborn session?

Nothing really – I have a large range of props and accessories which can be used. Please bring enough formula (if bottle fed) for a few feeds and a dummy (if used), is always great to settle and soothe bub.

What is your style?

I am a natural light photographer only and my Southport studio has beautiful light from 3 sides of the room. I love working with Mother Nature’s golden light – particularly in the hour before sunset and sunrise – ideal for family and maternity sessions.

Do I get digital images or prints in my package?

All my packages include high resolution digital images as well as perfectly re-sized low resolution versions for social media & emailing. They also include printed product – however you can always order additional prints, canvases, albums or other product at any time.

Can I get my photos printed anywhere?

I can’t stress enough how important it is to go to a specialised professional photographic print lab. I BEG you, don’t use Big W, Kmart, Harvey Norman or Office Works – they are not professional printing labs and you will get what you pay for. I encourage you to come back to me for printed product through my professional lab.

How long will it take to get my photos?

Depending on how many photos were taken during the session and how busy that week has been, it usually takes me 2-3 weeks to prepare your online gallery so you can select your images. Your gallery will remain open for 1 week for you to make your selection. Your printed products will be ordered (generally taking 2-3 weeks to return) and they everything is prepared for you to collect.

Can I make my own cake smash cake?

Of course! There are some basic tips that I can give you so let me know in advance if you’d like this option.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Absolutely! For birthdays, baby showers, Mother’s Day, Christmas presents….any occasion.
